Joining the movement to combat workplace bullying, in 2007 WIVP partnered Dr. Ruth and Garie Namie of the Workplace Bullying Institute for pioneering work to bring greater awareness to the scale of this problem as well as co-develop some innovative solutions for it. The results of the first of its kind survey showed that bullying within the workplace was an epidemic problem.

The findings of the study are summarized below:

  • 37% of survey respondents claimed they have been bullied. Of the 37 percent, 13% reported being bullied presently while 24% said they had been bullied previously.

  • Most bullying within the workplace is conducted by bosses.

  • 60% of workplace bullies are men and 40% are women.

  • The most targeted group for bullying are women.

  • Bullying is 4 time more common than illegal discrimination.

  • 62% of employers ignore the bullying problem within their business.
